Our client, a leading youth community-based organization in the Toronto area provides community-based support for children and youth and families experiencing intensive and/or chronic mental health issues.

Services are offered in the community, in family homes and on-site. Services have been developed to meet the needs of families where their child or youth is experiencing significant emotional, social, psychological or behavioral problems at home, in problems at home, in school environment, and or in the community.

Mental Health Recruitment is searching for a progressive, creative and compassionate leader that will manage all aspects of the organization as the Executive Director.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong functional and technical expertise in managing community-based organizations, with an emphasis in supportive child, youth and family mental health. The Executive Director will bring a high level of enthusiasm, determination and perseverance in elevating this organization in the community by proactively managing risk, fulfilling the strategic plan and ultimately leading all employees in delivering family client care.

Leadership – strong presence with the ability to lead, drive change and influence people to ensure we exceed the expectations of all stakeholders.

Policy Management – will develop, direct and implement policies in the administration of the organization.

Strategic Planning – will be proactive in strategy development, fostering ownership and buy-in from all internal and external stakeholders, under the direction of the Board.

Program Management – supports the research, planning, development implementation and evaluation of programs and services – ensuring all funder and board requirements are achieved.

Human Resources – embraces, motivates and manages all employees in building a cohesive team while establishing a client-focused culture of performance and accountability.

Financial Management – administers the funds of the agency in accordance with the Board approved budget, ensuring all funder requirements are achieved with the highest level of integrity.

Risk Analysis & Management – promotes and adheres to a disciplined approach in management and mitigate health, safety and risk across the agency.

Community & Funder Relations – promotes, engages, networks and creates awareness across the community with funders, government officials, partners and all stakeholders.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum five years of leadership experience in managing a community based organization in child, youth and family mental health.
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Health Administration or related fields – Registration with a professional regulatory body is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with youth in conflict and with chronic and persistent mental illness.
  • Proven ability to secure and grow funding through grants and donors, including experience with fundraisers, sponsorship and donations.
  • Highly effective leadership and human resource management skills.
  • Strong financial management and budgeting experience.
  • Experience in initiating, planning, implementing and evaluating programs.
  • Excellent facilitation, networking and community development skills.
  • Highly motivated, resourceful and passionate with commitment to community, social and economic justice.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect to and work within diverse communities.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and achieve strategic goals.
  • Practical and extensive knowledge risk management techniques.
  • Must be eligible for security, criminal, and vulnerable sector clearances.
  • Problem solver, with a keen sense of understanding the big picture.
  • Demonstrated experience reporting to, and supporting a volunteer board of directors.
