Clinical Supervisor

Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst) of Autism Services, the Clinical Supervisor provides services based on the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for supervising the work of Behaviour Therapists and working collaboratively with the Autism and Behavioural Services team. This role may also require delivering ABA based service offerings, including assessment, behaviour plan development, documentation preparation, data analysis, training parents/caregivers using the Behaviour Skills Training (BST) model, etc., as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision Responsibilities
- Using the principles of ABA, supervise Behaviour Therapists who are working with families to address the needs that children/youth with ASD in the areas of communication, social/interpersonal skills, daily living skills, behaviour management/self-regulation, play and leisure skills, vocational skills, etc.
- Provide input to performance appraisals, including the assessment of staff development needs.
- Assist with the client intake process by conducting meetings with families and managing email inquiries.
- Represent Autism and Behavioural Services by bringing an ABA perspective to multidisciplinary tables and individual consultations.
- Assist with facilitation of team-based planning meetings.
- Participate in select community committees and operational agency committees, as required.
- Model and further enhance the agency’s cultural competencies.
- Ensure the program meets accreditation standards and is compliant with the BACB Code of Ethics, PHIPA, and other legislative guidelines.
- Advise in the recruiting, hiring, and discharging of employees as necessary to support the allocation of resources needed to meet service objectives.
- Participate in ongoing training opportunities.
- Operationalize client safety through adhering to established policies and guidelines that ensure consistency in the delivery of quality and safe care, and by identifying and reporting any client safety incidents.
- Ensure compliance with the specific requirements of Section 27 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as any further health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the agency’s policy and procedure documents.
Behaviour Therapist Responsibilities
- Provide intervention based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis to clients from birth to age 21.
- Participate in the development and delivery of both individualized and group interventions and workshops.
- Conduct collaborative sessions with ROCK mental health service providers.
- Operationalize client safety through adhering to established policies and guidelines that ensure consistency in the delivery of quality and safe care and by identifying and reporting any client safety incidents.
- Ensure compliance with the specific requirements of Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as health and safety responsibilities as outlined in agency policy and procedure documents.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- A master’s degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis (or equivalent) is required.
- A Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) designation is required.
Experience:
- At least five years of experience delivering services using ABA with children and youth with autism spectrum disorder, under the supervision of a BCBA or Registered Psychologist with experience in ABA.
- Experience working with children with autism from infancy to age 21.
- Experience working with children with communication challenges, social skills needs, daily living skills challenges, play and leisure skill needs, vocational skill needs, children who engage in challenging behavior, etc.
- Experience writing behaviour plans in the areas of communication, maladaptive behaviour reduction, self-regulation, daily living skills, social skills, play and leisure skills, vocational skills, etc.
- Strong parent coaching experience is essential to the role, including experience training parents and caregivers in both individual and group formats to implement behaviour plans, skill acquisition programming etc.
- Experience providing family-centred care when designing both group and individual ABA interventions is required.
- Previous experience supervising Behaviour Therapists is preferred.
- Experience with and/or previous training in Project ImPACT is preferred.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential.
- Organized and able to work well independently.
- Computer literate (strong MS Word and Excel competencies are essential).
Additional Requirements:
- Available to work flexible hours, including evenings according to client and/or program needs.
- Proficient in the use of technology and in working from a virtual environment, with MAC OS operating systems experience is preferred.
- Access to reliable transportation in alignment with program needs.
- A current (within the last three months) criminal reference check, including vulnerable sector search.
